2009 was the year in which i discovered the DJ set. Quite seriously – until then i was usually listening to either music albums or my own mixes cause most sets didn’t really do it for me. Since this changed a lot last year, here are my ten favourite sets from ‘09 (in no particular order). (more…)
Ikeahacks: DJ console
Building a DJ console is quite a task on its own. Depending on available space, money, the amount of vinyls and equipment to keep solutions are almost endless. Here’s one nifty, small ikeahack by Pim Hansen for the bare minimum setup and a reasonable lot of records. Via Ikeahacker.
Timbap – a fresh approach towards digital DJing
Still in development and currently available as public beta (version 0.5.1 as of now), Timbap is a very interesting and different approach to play digital tracks in clubs compared to other software. The concept gets rid of mouse & keyboard interaction, even a screen if you own a lcd projector and entirely relies on turntable interaction. Native Instruments Traktor DJ Studio / Final Scratch
Starting to betatest the first Traktor version back then i went along the development of the software that very soon became the reference in digital DJing. Lateron i took care of gathering netlabel content for the demomixes shipping with the software as well as the sets themselves. (more…)
