To be honest, i’m not the biggest fan of weekly or monthly “best of the web” roundup posts in blogs. Too often they read like “shit, the week’s over and i have to squeeze some links in” without being of much interest after all. Then again, my daily work involves quite some surfing, i’m a man of many interests and thus there are actually good things i stumble upon left and right to the noteworthy audio news. So here’s my take on the infamous web-roundup-short-link-post-thing. Things that made me shiver, laugh, cry or simply bang my head on the table – the RP-Link-o-rama!
www.shorpy.com – the 100 year-old photo blog
That one almost made me throw away my beloved Nikon D70 and stop photography at all. The images presented there are up to 150 years old and organized into categories such as “aviation”, “factories”, “wwII” and the likes. What makes those stand out is the absolutely brilliant quality – most of them are twice as crisp as everything shot on the digital domain i’ve ever seen. And the amount of available images is huge!
Himalaya by TBC (1k Intro)
Here’s the latest hallmark for 1k intros, the well deserved 1st place at Icons2008 demoparty “Himalaya” by TBC. For the non-sceners, this file here (sized 1kilobyte) generates a realtime generated, dynamic lightened, moving mountain scenery. Truely impressive!
Ryan Blackman – Planetar Detroit Techno mix
I still worship this guy for his amazing 90-99 mixset from some years ago so his new offering was more than welcome. And it’s worth it! 2 hours of kicking detroit techno from all ages. Above link hits to the thread @ littledetroit.net with links and playlist.
Top Gear – 11th season started
The waiting is over, the 1st Top Gear episode of season 11 was broadcasted last week (*cough* and made available on the internets instantly). And it was a brilliant launch for the new season indeed, that police car mockup with the Stig-chase was priceless! So when does BBC at last allows us non-brits to watch their series online? PLEASE?
